FIVE-FOLD WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT–PART 1

I want to teach you more about the work that the Holy Spirit does.  He doesn’t just float around our there in God’s creation with no reason or rhyme.  He is Wisdom as shown in Proverbs 8.  He had a purpose from the beginning of creation.  All Scripture is from the AMPLIFIED version.

Listen to the words of Jesus:

John 14:1,16,17,18

Do not let your hearts be troubled (distressed. agitated). You believe in God (adhere to and trust in and rely on God:) believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever-The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, and helpless]; I will come [back] to you.

SCRIPTURES SHOW US ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

In the Scriptures, we see how God provided a Comforter, Refuge and a source of Strength for His children.  Here are some examples:

A. David – Psalm 46:1 –

GOD is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

B. Jesus was the disciple’s Refuge and Comforter – John 14:9 –

Jesus replied, Have I been with all of you for so long a time, and do you not recognize and know Me yet, Philip? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say then, Show us the Father?

C. The Holy Spirit is our Refuge and Comforter – John 14:16 –

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever-

D. The Holy Spirit was given to us – Acts 15:7-9 –

And after there had been a long debate, Peter got up and said to them, Brethren, you know that quite a while ago God made a choice or selection from among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the message of the Gospel and believe. And God, Who is acquainted with and understands the heart, bore witness to them, giving them the Holy Spirit as He also did to us: And He made no difference between us and them, but cleansed their hearts by faith.

Next time, we will look at God’s purpose of the Holy Spirit.
